    The way the question is posed there does not exist such smallest integer. In fact, the set of integers satisfying the condition that when divided by 2 has a remainder 1 is,

    {…,-3, -1, 1, 3, 5, …}. This set of integers has no smallest value.

    But if you are working only with positive integers, the smallest integer when divided by 2, has a remainder 1, would be 1.
